The standing ovation your floor’s been waiting for

Love it! As most people know, JBL has their own signature sound but this one has the distinctive famous JBL highs with a bass punch that is produced by well tuned porting at a lower wattage which I am really am after for coz it matches my 65 watt tube amp very well. The result is a solid detailed mid and high with a thundering bass. I really like listening to the old 80's music even new ones as long as the sound is more analog with a rock solid bass sound like the live album of Phil Collins / Robert Palmer which I can really hear these speakers sing to me from the lowest volume to medium max without dropping. In my setup, its a sacrilege to add a subwoofer in it not just its plenty of bass but you don't want to lose the purity of the sound. This is a bit step up of the arena 170 or 180 for it has 3-way vs. 2. But non comparable for I love my Arena 170 too. On the music I listen too, they are not really that far from each other. I guess it has a lot to do with your amp setup, dialing connection and speaker to amp wattage matching. You may have a $1,000.00 or more worth of speaker but if you're amp is not matched to your speaker, you will not hear its full potential or its sweet spot. JBL has been in business for a very long time and they know what they're putting out in the shelf. They have customer service that can give you a good idea what speaker you will need close to you're setup. They have selection for entry, mid and high level. But in the end, it will be you're choice.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Very pleased I consider myself a somewhat of an audiophile, and not too much on the extreme side. The speakers look and sound amazing. I had to readjust my receiver as they increased the higher tones - I am sure this happened because my receiver had been adjusted to otjer speakers so not to blame on the 280s. Also I did not Amp bi-wire or bi-wire, there’s really no proof of better sound when using the same receiver as this may be subjective and/or a matter of personal taste. Even so the sound is warm and contained even at low levels so there was no need to bi-wire. All in all for the price and quality in them they are totally worth it and have made a newer addition to my home audio.

Hi! I am looking to buy a part of Studio 280, Studio 225C, Studio SUB260P and Studio 220. Would this amplifier be powerful enough to drive the whole system : Onkyo TXNR676 , as I want to really enjoy the whole power of front's (Studio 280) and the SUB260?

Posée par: krasi
Hi. We usually do not comment on products from other brands, but since this is closely connected to the use of our loudspeakers, let us try, with all kinds of reservations since we have no experience with this Onkyo. At first glance, this seems to be a massively powerful audio/video receiver. 165W per channel is a lot. But two things modify the first impression: the weight of the receiver is only 10 kg, and the stipulated power is only available it you play ONE channel, and then only for this channel. It all points to a device which may in reality be a 5x50 W AVR, when all outputs are playing simultaneously into an 8 Ohm load. It does not make that much of a difference if it is in reality 5x40 or 5x80 Watts, we can say for sure that it is not a 5x165 W device. The weight is most likely a result of using a switch-mode power supply and digital power amplifiers. This can be a fine solution, but there are limits to the raw power available. All of this is of little consequence if you listen at "reasonable" levels. The problems, if any, only start appearing if you play loud enough to push the AVR close to its limits, which you can easily do with a pair of Studio 280, if you really go loud. It is worth bearing in mind that even an increase of sound pressure level of just 3dB, which is discernible, but not much more, necessitates a doubling of the power fed to the speakers. So your power needs increase very fast if you are already playing loud. There are two ways to overcome such a problem, either limiting the power drain on the AVR by setting up the system with the main speakers set up as "small" speakers, leading all deep bass to the subwoofer, thus removing the task of driving the main speakers in the bass. Sometimes this works well, sometimes not so well. The other way is to add a more powerful power amplifier, fed from a preamplifier output on the AVR, removing the work of driving the main speakers completely from the AVR. However, as far as I can see, this AVR does not feature preamp outputs, so this solution is probably not possible. So, it all depends on your expectations. In normal, "sane" listening situations, you should be able to enjoy a very good result. If you push the system to the limit, problems will crop up due to insufficient power in the AVR. I hope this helps.

I have JBL studio 280 two pairs speakers. One pair studio 280 for front speaker and second pair studio 280 for surround speakers.  I have an idea to buy another pair JBL studio 280 for back surround, Is it a good idea or it's better to set up studio 220

Posée par: Duka
Hello. Both the JBL Studio 280 and Studio 220 would sound great as a rear surround speaker. I would say, since you already have two sets of Studio 280, another pair of it would look great aesthetically. Now, the Studio 220 would work more than sufficiently for the same purpose, since rear speakers does not output audio most of the time on a surround system.

I have 280 floorstanding, 220 Bookshelf, 225C and 250P. I would have preferred if the center speaker was the 235C but it is not available here in Egypt. I wanted a better center and saw Wharfedale diamond 9.CM. Will it work well with the 280 fronts?

Which Harman Kardon AVR is recommended for two Studio 280?

Posée par: Carlos Mesa
Any of our Harman Kardon AVR's would work with the STUDIO 280 as they would not exceed the rated power handling of the speakers which is at 200W(RMS). Any AVR/Amp that has a rated output of 200W(RMS) or below would work with the speaker.

Posée par: krasi
Hi Thank you for the question Harman/Kardon Doesn't have an AV-receiver which supports Dolby Atmos or wi-fi. and the difference between JBL Studio 270/280 is that the 280 has two 6,5" bass drivers as the 270 only has one.

i just wanna know if this speakers are wireless ( Bluetooth ) and amplified ( Studio 280 ) and if the price indicated is just for one piece ?

Posée par: itto
Hi Thank you for your question The Studio 280 is a passive speaker, which means that it should be connected to an amplifier. The price is for one speaker, so if you need a stereo set then you will have to purchase 2 items. if you have further questions, please contact our customer help-desk.
